Preparing your activities can sometimes feel overwhelming. I thought I’d compile a list of some of my favorite tools that help streamline my prep, keep my materials organized, and keep them ready to use and reuse! ***
LAMINATOR

Laminating my pictures, game pieces, and activities provides a bit more protection and allows them to be reused especially for review, or even year after year (this is my fifth round as a primary chorister!!)

Most Primary rooms have some sort of chalkboard or whiteboard, both of which are magnetic. I use a small strip of magnet tape on the back of my laminated print outs. This helps keep me hands free while I’m leading and gets the images, words, or games, up where everyone can see.
ACTIVITY TOOLS
I keep a couple “go-to” activity tools in my bag. If the kids are extra wiggly, having a hard time focusing, or maybe they already have a good understanding of the song, I’ll pull out a prop to keep them engaged

Popsicle Sticks are great make shift rhythm sticks. Use the to tap the beat or only certain words

Dance Scarves can encourage movement or emphasize certain phrases

These “How to Sing” printable cards from MyActivityPagesShop – Etsy make for fun ways to review songs
These are just a couple things that have worked for me. You DO NOT need to make purchases or spend hours on projects to lead an effective singing time! If you do want a little something extra, you can check out our freebie library here.
Best wishes in your prep!
